Download files to translate from Command Center
This may be used either as the full setup for a project or as a way to download files and pass them to the translator directly, for a punctual workaround of any kind, like a TMS availability or a network glitch.
Downloading files to translate is started from the Localyzer page
If this method of passing files to be translated is used, then it's likely the Upload translated files to Command Center will be used once the files for that prep kit have been translated into a locale.
Downloading or uploading are not TMS or MT configuration. They function at the project level. Another TMS or MT configuration must be set.
Download as a workaround
If, for any reason, a user wants to download the files previously sent to the project's translation system -FTP, or a TMS, or an MT, or an LLM - then click the Download files to be translated
button. The files sent prior may still be handled in the configured TMS, etc.
Pick the prep kit number and the target locale, then click the Download
button. A zip file will be downloaded with the files previously sent to the configured translation system.
If a prep kit is outstanding, click either:
- the download icon on the left hand side, where you can pick the prep kit number and the available locale for that prep kit
- the icon by the outstanding kit locale
In this example, say that the user wants to download source files to be translated into Japanese for prep kit #5. That locale has not been returned for kit #5. The easiest is to click on the icon in the outstanding kit locale.
A zip file with the files to be translated is downloaded. It contains a directory with the files to translate. Extract the files from the zip files and navigate to their location. Use a translation tool like Trados Studio.
Translate the file(s):
Once translated, the user can then upload the translated files to Command Center: See Upload translated files.
Download as the main method
In the case files will not be sent to an FTP, a TMS, an MT, or an LLM, first create a Local TMS.
The files are not sent anywhere, they are prepared on disk where Command Center is hosted. Once a prep kit has been 'sent' to the local file system, they can be downloaded, as shown above.
Here files can only be uploaded by hand using Upload translated files.
